Application tip 4

Painting doors and windows

It’s important to paint doors and windows early in the day to make sure you can close them in the evening:

New wood

  • Apply an even coat of primer and work it well into the grain of the wood
  • Allow to dry. Rub down with fine sandpaper, then wipe down with a clean cloth to remove any dust
  • Next, choose a suitable undercoat
  • Following the grain of the wood, apply evenly using smooth wrist actions
  • Allow to dry. If it requires a second coat of paint, rub the first down with fine sandpaper, wipe down to remove any dust and then repeat the process
